Dromineer and surrounding areas have some of the most beautiful walk ways throughout Ireland. Beautiful forests and picturesque lakes and waterways are the perfect way to spot some of the wildlife that Tipperary has to offer. Teaming with wildlife and breathtaking scenery, a day walking in the wilderness or a short break is sure to create opportunities to see local wildlife.

The Sli Eala walk (approx. 10km) will bring you along the Nenagh riverside path from Dromineer to the picturesque bridge and weir at Ballyartella where there is plenty of wildlife. This river is home to many Mute Swans which give the walk its name.

Millenium Cross Walk (approx. 6km) runs along the open bog land and tough track along the Portroe Road. There is a small parking area 15 minutes from the Waterisde cottages with picnic benches and breathtaking views of Lough Derg.

Hike across the Graves of Leinstermen (approx. 6km), the burial place of a Leinster King and his small army, who were ambushed by Brian Boru's wife in the llth century, whilst on their way to a wedding in Killaloe. Expect to see the whole Lough Derg valley with views extending from Galway to Kerry and all the villages in between and of course the mighty Lough Derg.

The Lough Derg Way (approx. 64km) starts near the Hunt Museum in Limerick and follows the River Shannon ending at in Dromineer, Lough Derg. Start in Castletown, Portroe and spend the day trekking to Dromineer while taking in the fascinating landscape and wonderful scenery of the Shannon Region.

Clare Glens Loop (4km) trekking along the picturesque river flow and waterfalls of the Clare River. The Clare Glens are a wooded area along the banks of the Clare river, which separates Counties Tipperary and Limerick, Ireland. Very close to Newport, County Tipperary.

Enjoy the Slieve Feilm (approx. 36km) Stretching from Murroe in County Limerick to Silvermines Village in County Tipperary, the Slieve Felim Way takes you into the heart of beautiful, rural countryside. Scenic views of four counties, glimpses of some of Ireland's most spectacular waterways, the River Shannon and Lough Derg, plenty of forest trails and an interesting mountain route.

Devil's Bit Loop provides some incredible scenic views through Sandy laneways, forestry tracks and hillside paths. According to local legend, the mountain got its name because the devil took a bite out of it.
